Rusmolco opened the first stage of a dairy farm for 5200 heads in the Penza region

The Russian Dairy Company (a subsidiary of Olam International Singapore), one of the largest producers of high quality milk in Russia, has commissioned the first stage of a dairy farm for 5,200 heads in the Serdobsk area of the Penza region. The farm is being built as a part of an investment program worth 4.5 billion rubles, launched by Rusmolco in summer 2019. The financial partner is "Rosselkhozbank".

The event was attended by Dmitry Butusov, director of the livestock and breeding department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Ivan Belozertsev, Governor of the Penza region, Muthukumar Neelamani, MD&GCFO Olam International Singapore, Sumanta Kumar De, CEO of the Russian Dairy Company. Among the guests of the event, there were representatives of the Government and Legislative Assembly of the Penza region, Serdobsk Administration, Rosselkhozbank, business partners and employees of RUSMOLCO.

The dairy farm for 5,200 heads consists of seven cow barns, four calf barns, a milk room with two rotary milking parlours.  The farm comprises a feed warehouse, trenches for silage and haylage. In one word, that’s a complete infrastructure that ensures the life of the dairy farm.

To date, the total number of the cattle at the farm is 5,000 heads; the daily milk production is about 40 tons.  The company employs 197 people.

The new dairy farm is an example of introducing new technologies. All production processes are integrated into a unified IT system allowing monitoring permanently all the types of the production processes. An innovative system of preparation for milking gives a chance to increase the milk production. Robots replace tractor – feed pushers and make sure every cow will get tasty food.

The special attention is paid to the comfort of the animals: a modern system of ventilation is introduced at the farm, the stalls in cow barns are arranged in the best way, etc.

At the farm, we can see the introduction of an innovative system for raising calves from the moment of the birth up to two months old, which provides the use of automated systems for feeding, weighing and health monitoring.

Sustainability is at the heart of the RUSMOLCO’s business. The company is continuously investing in the smart waste management and efficient land and water use practices.

Rusmolco has adopted a principle of low-manure waste by using bioreactors to reduce the solid manure and turn it into bedding; the liquid fraction is used as organic fertilizer.

"The partnership with Rusmolco allowed us creating a reliable platform for long-term investment in the region's dairy industry and demonstrating the stable growth dynamics for seven years. I would like to note that Rusmolco's total investment in the region's economy over the past 5 years has exceeded 17 billion rubles. This is our largest investor," - highlighted Ivan Belozertsev, Governor of the Penza region.

"The construction of a new dairy farm in the Penza region is an important event for the Russian dairy farming. The innovative technologies and state-of-the-art equipment allow us obtaining production indicators comparable to the best foreign practices. Rusmolco has already proved its competitiveness in many ways. We plan to continue the implementation of the investment program, under which the dairy farm in Serdobsk will be expanded up to 7,200 cows by 2021," -  added Sumanta Kumar De, CEO of the Russian Dairy Company.

The expansion calls for the construction of two more cow barns for the milking herd and additional rooms for the calves: two calf barns, one eight-row calf barn, two open sheds for the calves age 6 - 12 months old.  As a result, the total number of livestock will exceed 16,000 heads; the milk production will increase up to 250 tons per day. In total, there will be 350 employees working for the dairy farm.
