«Rusmolco» finished completing the livestock herd in the Narovchat complex

The company “Rusmolco” has brought in a large shipment of Holstein-Friesian bred heifers amounting to 1600 heads and thus, completing the livestock herd of one of the largest dairy complexes in the country. Now there are over 5000 cows on the farm in Narovchat.

The delivery of cattle took place the 1st through the 11th of November in ten loads. This is the largest shipment in the history of the company. All the heifers that arrived from USA are of Holstein-Friesian dairy breed. The planned performance per head is 8-9 thousand liters of milk a year, which is on average two to two and a half times higher than other dairy breeds. All the cows are 3-6 months pregnant and are expected to start calving in January.

The unique feature of this shipment is that approximately half of the heifers were inseminated with sexed semen. This innovative technology allows approximately 85% heifers, with unsexed semen there is 50% chance of having a heifer. Since all the newly arrived cows are purebred Holstein with a registered pedigree, the specialists of the company plan on using them to improve the genetic potential of the herd and increase the owned livestock population, as well as sell them.

The advantages of these cows are quite obvious – over 9000 liters of milk a year compared to 3,5 thousand liters from a common cow. During the peak of lactation some of the cows can produce up to 50 liters per day. Now our largest complexes in Kuznetsk and Narovchat are full to capacity with Holstein cattle», - said the director of the dairy department of LLC “MC “Russian dairy company” Shan Betzold.
