Representatives of Rusmolco and Olam have discussed investments in the russian animal husbandry

On the 19^th of August, a meeting with Rusmolco & Olam representatives was held in the Russian Federation Ministry of Agriculture. The following participants took part in the meeting: Sergey Levin, deputy minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation; Andrey Burlakov, interim deputy PM of the Penza region; core-business department heads. Olam International Company was represented by Sunny Verghese, its founder and CEO. Rashid Khayrov, president of Rusmolco; and Andrey Danilenko, dairy branch association representative; also participated in the event. 

During the meeting, the parties discussed in details both the situation on the world’s agricultural market, and the events happening today in the dairy branch of the Russian Federation. The participants noticed, that in spite of some objective difficulties the branch keeps developing and shows positive dynamic.

Investments brought in the Russian animal husbandry by global agricultural leaders, such as Olam International Company, play an important role in the process. 

The Penza region is a shining example of the successful cooperation, where, in 2014, by joint efforts Olam International and Rusmolco built a dairy farm for 4 600 heads, which could compete with the best western analogues. At the moment, these companies are turning into reality the following projects: a herd reproduction center, an elevator and a seeds plant. Moreover, the company invests in the crop husbandry, buys the newest equipment and implements up-to-date technologies.  Only for the last couple of years, Rusmolco has invested more than 10 billion rubles in the economy of the Penza region.  

During the meeting, the parties discussed plans on further investments in this sector and agreed on comprehensive mutual support while achieving the goals. It is planned, that on August 21, one of the most famous businessmen in the world – Sunny Verghese, CEO of Olam International, will personally attend an event dedicated to the opening of the first herd reproduction center in the Penza region built by Rusmolco.
